Clariant: Masterbatches for biopolymers

Clariant Masterbatches (Muttenz / Switzerland; www.clariant.masterbatches.com) has introduced the “Cesa-natur” range of additive masterbatches developed for use with environmentally-friendly biopolymers, such as polylactic acid (PLA), which are becoming popular in “green” packaging and consumer goods applications. The new range, along with “Renol-natur”, introduced in 2007, can also be formulated for use in conventional polymers as alternatives to non-renewable additives.

The masterbatches, including slip/antiblock agents, UV/light stabilisers, antioxidants and antistatic agents, have a biopolymer carrier resin and include naturally occurring renewable, biodegradable substances.
